        No problem Jeri.

Some good links for WX on the hill (do NOT use Weather.com - they report from March ARB!)

          Jacoby Canyon

We (6 of us) went down Jacoby Canyon last Sunday, the road is barely passable and is washed out, 3 to 6 feet deep in three places. There was a lot of water running down the creek and on what used to be the road. Having a winch and/or lockers is a good idea. It took us 2 hours to cover 2.9 miles. Don't go alone!!! That said, it's a beautiful canyon!

Highway 18 is still closed at Cushenbury and is expected to remain closed for another month or so.

I went up to Big Bear this past Sunday with several others.
We went up highway 247 out of Yucca Valley and turned onto Pipes Canyon road.
Most of the trails we went on were covered with virgin snow. The trails below Cadilac loop now have tire ruts in the snow as do many of the others in the area. (We covered a lot of ground) We got within about 1/2 mile from Juniper Springs, there the snow was about three feet deep.
The weather was great and the ground that was frozen in the morning was turning to mud and slush in the afternoon.
At lunch the kids pulled out the disks an played on the hills.
Everyone on the trip did get straped or winched at least once. Many times it was a pull backwards out of the snow so they could take another run at a snow covered hill. (DO NOT GO ALONE)
              Good time had by all.

I heard on the radio yesterday that Cal-Trans plans to re-open the 18 from Lucerne to Big Bear on Feb. 10. Yes, that's this year, not next. Pretty impressive for Cal-Trans, huh?
It's not the size of your tire, it's how you place it!
