I see no 'Gains' in this proposal. Based on the definitions that Greg and others have been so careful to explain, a 'Trail' is most likely NOT motorized. It will definitely NOT be open to street legal vehicles. All of the other designations indicate closures based on those same definitions. It is unlikely that our community will gain anything by this change. The Sierra Club and the CWC will see this as a 'Win', guaranteed.

If there is anything on this proposal that you want to not happen, then you need to let the FS know in very clear language. Make sure that you use the word 'road' when referring to anything that you want to remain driveable in a Jeep or other street legal vehicle.

This is bad, but many of these roads are not actually open today. Some of them are open and being driven regularly. Let's not lose the open ones.

I have not heard back from Greg but I have heard from other reliable sources that the SBNF is proposing to take away and give nothing back.

This is terrible news and we need to send in as many comments as possible before August 16, 2012.

Write the comments in your own words. Do not use boilerplate.

Is anyone interested in going with me Saturday to go look at the trails that are to be closed? I want to take a look at the trails so I can better respond to the FS.

I probably can't camp this weekend, but let's meet at the discovery center at 9:00 AM Saturday. I am going to post this in the trail run section also.

4 of the proposed trail closures are in the Butler II Fire closure area.

Speaking of fire closures....the SBNF used to be real good at opening areas back up to the public within 2 years after fire closures. Then Scott Tangenberg took over and now we are at 5 years of closure for the Butler II Fire area.

After driving a significant number of these trails Saturday... we would be losing a lot, there would be increased illegal offroading, and your ability to traverse the forest greatly reduced. By putting more people travelling on less roads, there would be an increase in accidents, trash along the trails, & rutting when moisture is on the trail. Also the trails widening from people trying to pass each other due to increased encounters with other vehicles. Any of these things could be used by those fighting to close our trails against us.
