  • Back from IN, or, it's weird to see some green

because i'm a secretive sumbitch, i didn't openly state it, but I did spend the last week visiting my grandparents in rural Indiana.

wow what a difference last time I was out there it was only for 2 or 3 days, and it was at least 5 years ago. you tend to forget things after that much time. some things I remembered pretty quickly: motorcyclists don't have to wear helmets and you can smoke in restaurants (ick). there is smoking/nonsmoking sections, but totally nonsmoking restaurants is (IMO) one of the few things that California really hit the nail on the head about. the people are sooo friendly, everybody uses their turn signals and goes (pretty much) the speed limit. There isn't a Starbucks on every corner. you can get a huge (and I mean HUGE) breakfast for $5, including a cup of coffee. We really need Steak & Shake restaurants in So Cal

enough rambling- on to some pics:

    the g-parents back yard:

a little bit of rain on Thursday:

curbs & sidewalks? we don't need no steenkin' curbs & sidewalks!

    downtown :

i got some more pics i'll upload later (plane got delayed an hour due to weather last night and now i'm it work )

it was fun... i always enjoy going back to Indy for a few days every so often

Bargersville, population 2000 (give or take)

I had to use dialup all week

I still get a kick out of their definition of a "traffic jam"- basically, if traffic slows from 70 to about 45-50 MPH, it's called 'heavy traffic'

if it included dogs, i think the total would be closer to 10,000

If Steak and Shake is as good as I remember (mind you my memory is pretty shabby) then I'd take it over In and Out any day.

Ahhh just give it a few months. Single digit temps, slushy blackish grey ice that used to be snow inducing cold wet feet, salt rusting out the bottom of your Jeep, did I mention no rocks??? Boy do I miss Wisconsin.
