    Not sure where I found this picture from, but thought it was a got topic to talk about. :lightbulb

        Is the sythetic rope better? I have heard good thing about it but never talked to anyone who ran the stuff.

          The picture is misleading. That accident wasn't from winching. That is a strap hooked to the rear bumper. It was attached to the stuck vehicle behind with a D ring (attached to a crappy tow hook or something). When the pictured vehicle put slack in the line and romped the gas pedal it ripped the attachement point off the stuck vehicle and the d-ring stayed with the tow strap. You can see in the picture that the d-ring and strap went through the back window, through the driver's head rest, then through the windshield. From what I understand, the driver luckily didn't have his head directly in front of the head rest and sustained no injuries.

          As for synthetic rope, I'll leave that for the competition guys. I see synthetic lines break all the time and I would never trust my rig to one. I've had my winch for 10 years and never even had a close call with steel line.

            i saw that pic before. the hook went straight through the headrest, and through the front windshield from the back of the jeep.
