Wow. Great find Doug. Too bad they don't have any of Saline Lake.
    Check out .

Doug, that's pretty cool. It would be pretty neat to re-trace that trip. Even maybe trying to get some "now" photos. Although maybe a bit depressing as I'm sure some of the landmarks are long lost to vandals and Father Time.

          Bring on the funny....

That shot of the Lowest Place in the USA.
I can remember being there in July~August in the mid 60's with my Dad, fun times in a Volkswagen double-cab truck.

Incredible pictures. These photos almost seem staged and not really olden. And really they aren't doing anything different than we do today! Driving our machines out in the desert and camping and having a good time exploring! Thanx for sharing

I dunno, sounds like thinks haven't changed that much:

"We try to locate Stovepipe Wells but after wandering around some terrible roads the likes of which may be seen in the background we make camp here at 5 p.m. Jan. 11, 32 miles, falling down fast on that milage. Billyan's one cylinder stove is hitting on all the cylinder as may be seen on the left of the picture. -- First day 142 miles -- Second day 88 miles -- Third day 57 miles -- Fourth day 32 miles; The Horrible Road, a gullie every three feet. My guess is he didn't bring enough water. Looks a bit dehydrated to me
