Today made up for yesterday . . . what a blast. Ran a bit of single track, practiced on some steep stuff, and went balls out thru the fire roads!!! The new gearing makes a huge difference. Can't wait for the next run.

Billy - Sorry to hear your bike still isn't running right. When you get it dialed in you'll have to come out and play. Hit me up anytime you want to head out.

I managed to put about 25 miles on the DRZ on Saturday. We had a FS ATV class out of the Lytle Creek RS, I took the bike along for the trail ride/patrol afterward.

I forgot how "loose" the terrain is in Cajon - front tire was all over the place. Do not like riding on railroad ballast either!

Had one real "good" get off on the left side. Managed to jam my right thumb a bit, my fancy knee and elbow armor saved the day (judging from the gouge in the left knee cup things would NOT have been pleasant had I not been wearing it)

Still, all in all a good day.

Good call wearing all the gear . . . I took a spill the first day out on my bike and cracked my knee guard . . . had it not have been there, I'm sure my knee would have been pretty banged up. I think I hyperextended my wrist almost crashing a couple weeks ago . . . it's not too bad, but I tweeked it pretty good and have some clicking, grinding, and pain . . . oh well, picked up a wrist brace to keep it supported so I don't do it again while it's healing. These things sure beat you up, but what a blast . . . had a $hit eatin' grin on my face all day yesterday.

Yeah, I can't remember which of my buddies recommended the aluminum/plastic hand guards either - but I owe him a beer (or three)

Funny, the trail seemed so much softer when I was a kid.....

It's supposed to really cool off by Sat and Sun . . . anybody interested in heading out to Rowher or Frazier Park. I've been getting some quality seat time, but still need to take it easy and stay away from the more hard core trails for a little while longer. But if anybody is interested in a noob friendly ride, let me know!

Did a couple things to the bike and WOW what a difference. Regeared it, stock gearing was way too high, opened up the exhaust, and cleaned all the goo that the dealer had put on the air filter to the point it was dripping and just went with a light coat and it's like the bike came alive. Was really bogging down last weekend due to the plugged filter . . . can't wait to get out now that she can breathe!

Bah Humbug...still got the Willys in the garage, so still no room for a bike. Gotta sell that thing first!

The day she sells, I'm heading out to a Kawi dealer!

Good luck with the sale. Hope you are able to join us soon. Met Billygoat today . . . he brought his enduro 650 out and rode with a group of guys I hooked up w/ on a dirtbike forum. What a perfect day for riding, nice and cool, a breeze to clear the dust off the trail. Started in Rowher . . . rode out to the Rock Inn (mostly dirt) and grabbed a bite to eat. Sounds like I might be heading out again tomorrow . . . I'd better locate some advil and start popping them now if I'm going to make it!!!

Ok...Willys is sold. Cash still not in hand, but gave me a check to hold it, he'll pick up Willys and exchange cash for check on Saturday. I guess there is still a slight possibility he can back out...but I think we're good.

Got signed up for a Motorcycle Safety Course, so I can get my M1. I cannot insure a motorcycle, if I'm not licensed (at least according to AAA Insurance)...if I cannot insure, then I cannot buy! :o I'm sure there is a grace period from purchase to when it HAS to be insured...but I'll get specific when I have cash in hand.

Soon soon soon, I'll be out there taking it easy!

SWEET . . . congrats on the pending sale Steve!!! As far as the insurance, that doesn't sound right as I know a lot of guys that rode for quite some time only having their MC permit and had no difficulty getting insurance. Many years ago I rode for a year or so on a permit up in Oakdale . . . there weren't any freeways around and with all the bugs, you didn't want to ride after the sun went down, so I didn't need anything other than a permit. AAA might have a special policy. Speaking of which, when you get your bike, shop around for insurance . . . some companies don't want to insure motorcycles period and will hit you with some ridiculous pricing. So what kind of bike are you looking for . . . size, price range, type, etc . . . I'll keep an eye out for you. You missed out on another great ride yesterday . . . hopefully we can put an end to that soon!!!

Gonna be hard to throw that 324 lbs around a single track, but should be a lot of fun blasting the fire roads!
