In Havasu City is the London Bridge (that should take up 30 min) and not much more and Laughlin's just up river. You can rent boats and all the toys/stuff... It can get a bit routy on big weekends. We haven't been there in a few years but go to Parker instead, Riverland RV Resort in Earp Calif., I think they also rent "Park Models" (mobile home type). It's only a few hours from 29 Palms and believe or not somewhat tamer then Havasu City. Also in Parker is the Bluewater Indain Casino.
There's a very good chance we'll be there sometime in May, you could come out for a visit to do some fishing or play on the toys. That could use up a day w/o a huge expense.

The General Patton Museum off I-10 @ Chiriaco Summit might be a good place for a stretch and a beverage.

Johnson Valley during a rock crawling event.

And almost any thing along the coast is cool.

      Have a great time!

On a side note, I've been working in your neck of the desert. We are raising the height of the levee in town to increase the storm water capacity before it rips through town.

Oh yea! I think I've seen you guys around. But, it's still sand right? I don't understand this community sometimes.

Yea, you've heard it before... "Work with what you got". It's basically sand & fine silt with a lot of water mixed in, but it does pass FEMA's compaction test.

I know I talked to you over the phone....but for those of you who havent been to these "off the beaten track must sees":

            Near San Simeon

Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal rookery. Natural breeding spot for elephant seals, on the beach, open to the public. There is also a Lighthouse nearby. (About a two hour stop)

            North of San Francisco:

about an hour north on 101, Muir Woods. An acient Redwood Forest, with incredible undergrowth. (About a three hour or so visit)

If you really want to add a zig zag to your trip, try State Hwy 4. Check to see if its open first, as it closes in the winter, and may stay closed through May. It is an incredible scenic drive. No motorhomes or trailers. This highway turns into a one lane undivided road, with steep and tight switchbacks for a large part of it, wriggling past high mountain lakes and scenic overlooks. In absolutely beautiful un-commercialized (read: no facilities) escape into the Sierras. Hwy 4 has scenary similar to the Rubicon, except paved. (this is a full days drive, especially if you make several stops.) We usually take it from east to west, Stay overnight in Angels Camp, then continue our trip down 49 and through Yosemite, west to east.

            In Bishop, going down 395:

Laws Raiload Museum. The museum tells the story of the "Slim Princess" and has exhibits from in each of the old buildings dating back to the late 1800's. Lots of old stuff and trains to see. Dont forget to ring the bell! This is easily a 3 hour stop.

            South of Independance on 395:

Manzanar National Historic Site. Excerpt from the webiste: Manzanar National Historic Site was established to preserve the stories of the internment of nearly 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II and to serve as a reminder to this and future generations of the fragility of American civil liberties. I gaurantee youll get tingles, and feel the presence of the thousands that passed through here. An INCREDIBLE experience. (This is at least a 2 hour stop.)

Hope you can see some of these on your adventure!
