I have a neighbor who knows Shorty (K6JSI). He stays off the WIN system and has told me that a lot of their ops (including K6JSI) have a chip on their shoulder. The few times I've been on one of their repeaters, I get the same impression.
thanks. i did start with a multiple radio checks but with no responce i thought maybe my set up was messed up and didnt want to hurt it by tx too long. so after i started "kerchunking". good to know thats not legal.

i did get everything working and had a contact through keller tonight. ive got 7 channels programed including rodman mtn 147.885 - PL151.4 but i think thats the one Rodger says is not up yet. these radios are really great!

Fun stuff for sure. I tend to listen more than I talk, and we're pretty much all guilty of kerchunking from time to time.
If we aren't supposed to eat animals, then why are they made out of meat?

        Troy,
That repeater is up. It's the win or echo (I forget which) link 440 repeater that is not up and won't be going up.

The Rodman repeater is a great repeater with good coverage over a large portion of the desert. It's linked to the Barstow and Ludlow repeaters. The other night I talked to a friend in Oak hills from my house. It won't cover the Victor Valley though.

hey thats good to know. that would be a good one for calico id bet. any high ground in calico should have LOS with rodman peak. although the "barstow" repeter in there group seems to be accesable in victorville so im wondering if that is located up pretty high too.

The Barstow Repeater is on a hill named Flash II, I'm not 100% sure of it's location. I think it's near the old road to Ft. Irwin, just out of town.

              Keller peak machine

Does anyone here use the keller peak machine on a regular basis ??? I'm on there all the time for the various nets. Lots of nice hams on that machine and some of the best coverage from the mexican border to the north all the way to Tehachapi in Kern County. There is also a 4x4 related net on there on thursday nights.

                Matt,

It's always tied up during my comute hours and I don't have a clear shot at it form home. So my answer is no, I don't use it.

It's run by OAUSA (Outdoor Adventure USA). There's a different topic every week, here's a list of past ones for example: http://oausa.net/netrecordings

Really nice group of 4x4 hams. But from what I have gathered they are not into rock crawling. No big deal. I do like the thursday night net they have going on at 7:30 pm. Just so happens I am on that machine all the time. That machine is also set up for echolink.
