  • Canon 10-22mm ultra wide lens

I have the relatively inexpensive Canon 10-22mm ultra wide lens, and I love it.

There is an awesome collection of images on POTN that showcase what this lens can do. The forum thread is 132 pages long and growing, but there are some amazing photos, many of them are architecture related. If you get a chance and want to kill an hour or so, I encourage you to cruise through these images.

The one of the big hall looks like a terminal in the Charles the Gaule airport in Paris France. Very nice effects with that lens

Those are great shots Nathan. That's the one problem I have going with Olympus. Their wide angles are limited and expensive.

I have been pricing a dx series wide angle lens for my nikon, I just can't get past the price. I love the effect, but they are so expensive.

The Canon lens isn't cheap at over $800. I just got mine in the last few months. I love it's perspective.

                Thanks, Dave

Wow those are amazing shots, I like how you use HDR as well.
I don't understand your gallery site, but the Flickr stream is very enjoyable.

Thank you. Out of curiosity what don't you understand about my photo website. You have the categories that then take yoo to individual sub-galleries or individual pics.
                    Thanks, Dave

                        those are nice pictures.
post something up that is straight from the camera with no editing so we can see what i will really do.

i recently picked up the 16-35 L lens, and was considering the 10-22.

do you also use the L lenses, and how would you compare the build quality, and feel of the non L 10-22 lens to the L lenses.

lets see what else you have done with that lens.

Sorry, but I prefer never to post any unedited work of mine. I tend to set my camera a bit soft and underexposed. I haven't used this lens a lot yet. It seems only at certain times is it useful. I'll give you this shot from yesterday though, unedited, but reduced in size. I prefer to use this work for my dramatic side using HDR or Topaz Adjust techniques.

As far as I know there is no L series 10-22mm lens.

that is sure a sharp lens.
                            very nice.
i dont think there is a 10-22 L either. i was just curious how you compared the build quality of your lens to the L series lenses.
                            nice pics.

I think I added another photo before after you replied. I think the build is good. I only have two complaints. 1. keeping the big lens surface clean. 2. the filter threads are a pain and make it hard to get my UV filter on, but finally I figured out the right alignment spot so now it's easy. It's a good lens for sure. I'd say I use my 17-85 75% of the time, 10-22 5%, 100-300 2% and the 28-200 18% of the time.
                              Thanks, Dave
