  • RE 4.5 Coils part 3

Some might remember from RE 4.5 Coils part 2 that I had noticed how much higher the rear is than the front.

Well its been 3 months now and a couple off road trips and very little change. So I have a couple options to look at for leveling the Jeep.

    1. Coil spacers up front
    2. RE 3.5 coils in the rear (or another brand all together)

Coil spacers are the cheap way to go but with a LP D44 in front and plans to do a bellyup this does not seem the way to go.

    Any suggestions/comments?

I would put some spacers in there. It would be a cheap easy fix until you can figure out what you want to do.

I originally had 3.5" springs then went to 4.5" in the front only for the same reason, to get the front level w/the rear, or at least closer. I found after the first year or so the Rubicon Express springs did not settle or sag at all.

Haha. They sit great with about 400lbs in the back :geek:

Seriously, load your rig up for a trip and see how it's doing. Let's see, I've got a HD bumper and rack, 35" spare, hi-lift, CO2 bottle, spares case, tool box (40-50lbs?) recovery gear in ammo box with chain, shackles, snatch-block (another 40-50lbs), jerry can of water, couple of chairs, tank skid.

If it's a day trip I usually have one or two kids in the back seat (another 100-250lbs) and if it's an overnighter then cooler, stove, and all rest of that crap in place of passengers. Gee, no wonder my springs were sagged!

Empty it's a little funny, loaded it matches the front perfectly. Check 'em all out again this weekend.

I have a couple of 3/4" spacers you can throw in there for awhile if you want. I hung on to them for just that purpose.

Even loaded its still sits high but I pack pretty sparingly compared to most people. I will keep an eye on it this weekend and see if its any better.

Chris, thanks for the offer on the spacers and I will take them just in case.
