  • Lift options - Need help deciding

Setting a goal to run 35s on the TJ. Axles are well up to the task but I will need more lift. Currently i am running some bootyfab coils and RE SF Adjustables. SYE with CV Driveshaft will be going on with the new coils no matter what I decide.

So here is what I have narrowed my choices down too but can't seem to settle on either one.

RE 4.5 Coils. Pro: My shocks are long enough. Con: Maybe raises COG too much?

RE 3.5 Coils + fender/wheel well trimming. Pro: Keeps COG low. Con: Shocks too long so need to relocate mounts somehow

Rock crawling is my choice of Jeep abuse

Take a look at the 4" Pro Comp coils. Very good and inexpensive. If your not running a hard top I highly recommend them (ask mrblaine). If you run a hard top then take a look at RE 4.5 for the rear or Currie progressive rate coils.

I would say RE 3.5 w/ a 1 inch body, fender trimming, and out board the rear shocks

So is that an offer to move the shocks for me?

I do have to say I was sold on the RE4.5 until I talked to Dukes69 a few weeks back, he planted the seed of doubt in my mind!

I have an 89 YJ and I just put the RE 4.5" with a 1" MORE body lift kit. I have only been running mtr 31's on there right now (Need new 35's) but I can't believe how good it rides on the road. COG isn't really an issue. 75-80 on the highway no prob (but like I said, 31's). I am very impressed with all my RE suspension somponents.

Nothing is wrong with them as far as I know but then again I did put brake calipers on upside down once so....

The more I think about having to relocate the shocks, the more I like the RE4.5 coils. I think I am going to go that route.

                    4.5 Re

That's what I went to after the Currie progressives were too soft and not tall enough. Bump stops were too close with a load.

They are tall, but they settle a little and you'll like them; you can haul lots of camping gear

Chris likes to do it the hard way because he can. We need to get him a buggy to play with, something that needs lots of fabricating.

So I guess you are not offering to move my shock mounts?
