This debate will never die, you'll hear it go both ways, so buy what you want and learn how to use to it's full capacity and you'll be fine.

Very true, but at least on this forum it has not turned into a heated debate like it has on other forums.

I'm one of them idiots that doesn't run limiting straps. I don't suggest anyone else do it, but it's a preference I have. I know my limitations. And I like challenge. Dumb, I know....
I do have limit straps, in a box somehwere.

I got re short arm superflex kit with tera flex 3" springs (front with a spacer) right now and i was just wondering if its worth it to spend the extra cash on a long arm. I do know they ride better than short arm because you are getting the angle back on the arms. I think a short arm works good as long as you dont lift it too much over 4" from what im seeing reading alot of threads. It looks like alot of people get the jacking problem when going up steep inclines with the 4.5" short arm. I see alot of guys going too low cog <3" of lift with high fenders and big tires (35+)also. Maybe its a new trend or some guys just figured out that higher isnt necessarily better especially if you want to keep it on all 4's. I noticed on one of our latest runs the jeep with the highest lift almost flipped over backward going up the falls on dishpan spring run.He had RE long arm with 5.5 spring and an adjustable acos up front at least 7 inches of lift in the front. It was a pull the seat out your a$$ experience.

On this I firmly agree! The biggest tires with the lowest lift tends to provide the best climbing capability. The big lifts have there place too though. It all depends on what you want to do with your Jeep.

Here is my take on the whole debate after wheeling with some of the guys with long arm suspensions and so forth. the biggest reason a long arm rides better is that it does away with the rear trackbar. I.E the back and stops shaking and jerking on or offroad.
As long as the lift is under 5" the control arm angle is maybe 5 degrees sharper on a short arm suspension take a straight edge lay it along the control arm and see where it points really not that much different then a long arm suspension. Put a tri link like the Fulltraction one in the rear use good control arms with Johny joints and I don't think there is that much difference in ride quality, however by then your
shortarm kit is kinda expensive. On the positive side of this is that you can basically built it part by part. Is pretty much what I did, once my Curry anti rock goes in and I add the Fulltraction trilink it will be a sweet ride

I have the FTLong Arm syst with the Tri link using 4.5 Rubicon express springs, and it is an awesome system. great street manners, and the flex is great. I would highly recommend it

Curtis, Fred who we wheeled with saturday has a trilink on the top of his rear axle if I am not mistaken, could ask him how he likes it but to me its the way to stop the back end from kicking/ jerking sideways will make a shortarm lift behave much more like a good long arm kit
