  • Lifting and modifying the YJ...

    Well, it's that time finally.

Putting new springs with a little lift on Hector. He's not liking it too much right now.

    Camera phone pics...please excuse.

My plan is also to cut the stock shock mounts from the axles and move them to the top of the axle. If anyone has past experience of doing this please advise.

This random picture is of my Garage, when it's happy.

What springs are you installing? What shocks will you use? By moving the shock up you could lose shock length and axle travel.

I'll take the old springs if you are upgrading.

Is that a carport that your YJ is in? Or is your garage that big??????

I'd be afraid to leave a Jeep on jack stands like that if it was a carport....

Sorry guys, been away from the computer for a while.

Um...the springs I'm using are used from someone on MJR but I forget who it was. They are rough country springs and IIRC there is some sag in them already. I don't know how much lift is on them still.

Erik... Very interested, but $$ is tight right now, I'll talk to you when it gets closer.

Ron... I understand a little about moving the shock mounts. I just wanted to get rid of those damn tabs that stick down so far from the Axle. Any suggestions? I'm all ears. What shocks I'm going to use hasn't really made it to the table yet...because I want some remote resevoir shocks...but Barb is gonna freak when I tell her that.

pdw... that is a 'do it yourself" garage on base that I can save tons of money at. I would be worried too, and still am a little. But people are cool and don't mess with your stuff when it's in there. The Jeeps not sitting in an optimal position...I'll give you that.

Thanks for the info and such!!

Don't get me wrong, I have installed everything in my garage!
Just as long as the kids stay away from the Jeep.

i ordered currie universal shock mounts, they work well and a good price 15.00$ a pair. Also, I ordered them on tuesday night and they were at the house thursday.
The front ones are level with the bottom of the axle. The rear ones are up a little from level. ce-7020.
