I didn't have a problem installing mine either, Might want to check your Fuel line hoses and see if they are binding up! You might find you need to extend them just a little!

Geebo - How's your project going??

I've been trying to gather as much information on body lifts as I can. Here's a quote from a product descripiton by Performance Accessories:

"FITS 1980-1986 JEEP CJ5 CJ7 AND CJ8 BODU BUSHING KIT 1" LIFT-BLACK New from Performance Accessories. A complete line of body lift kits that give you your choice of body height. Many customers have requested a helpful, high quality 1 lift over the years, and here it is! Each kit contains lift blocks made of high grade reinforced nylon. All mounting hardware is grade 5 zinc plated for strength and corrosion protection, which is critical on the underside of the vehicle. Gain the tire clearance you have always wanted with out changing the entire suspension system on you Jeep Vehicle. These very complete kits come with every component needed for a successful installation. You will need to cut and do some welding to drop the radiator. Also the shift lever needs to be bent."

I've been PM'ing with another MJR member and he had no trouble, didn't move his radiator, and he has a automatic so he didn't have a problem with the shift lever.

Has anyone ever had to bend their shift lever or drop thier radiator for a 1" body lift?

Silly question, are you trying to put the last two pucks in while the the others are bolted down??
Maybe the rest of them have to be loose/er in order to put them in.
I know, thanks Mr. Obvious, but, hey, you never know

Glad I stumbled on to this post.....
Lately I've been tossing the idea of a 1"BL....
What are the ups and downs of doing a BL??
Doesn't it help with the center of gravity by keeping the frame and heavier sh'tuff towards the bottom?
From what I understand, it's a way of fitting larger tires without going too big on the lift.
                    What are the 'MJR' opinions??
                    Sorry to hijack your thread,Geeb....:hide:

FYI - If you are driving around without the last two spacers..... You will have major body mount problems in the future. I have seen all types of ripped body mounts because the directions were not followed upon installation.

Most people here will tell you to stay away from body lifts larger than an inch. Other than that, you're dead on. Body lifts can allow bigger tires w/o raising the center of gravity by too much. :thumbs_up

:gun::hijack::Looks like I'll join in on the hijacking:hijack::gun: ... Sorry Geeb!

I've got to put new tires on my Rubi (pretty stock w/ a 2" BB) soon and have been toying around with a few idea's . . . I'd love to go to 33's and do it up right with a nice lift and all but with my job instability, I'm a bit hesitant to throw thousands into my Jeep at this moment! I've been thinking I'd go with 32's and put some bumpstops up front (my BB came with rear bumpstops) just to get a bit more clearance than the stock 31's. But just recently, several people have been telling me to throw a 1" BL and with my 2" BB, I'd be set to run 33's. What are the pro's/con's to a 1" body lift? What all needs to be done for it to work properly with my set up and which kits are the best? Also, if I do go with 33's on my stock 16" Rubi wheels, will I need back spacing?

:omg: oh yeah. I think a spacer is needed for 33's, at least with the Moab wheels, cause 33's are a bit wider and will rub when steering is at full. As far as the kits, back me here guys, I think they're pretty much the same as long as as they say 1". Then again, some brands are made of a better quality than others.
And with the newer TJs, I don't think many things are affected. Besides, most good lifts will require or highly suggest a BL because the good belly pans will give almost 2 more inches of clearance on the bottom end making the trans assembly a tighter fit. Hence the suggestion to install a BL. :dunno:
Does this sound close to everybody?

Okay, I've ordered a 1" BL kit and plan on installing it next Thursday. I also ordered 2" lift shackles front and rear. This will give me about a 3" lift I figure. The poor man's lift!

Should be an interesting project for me.
