My Cobra (all in headset) CB and a FireStick 4' Antenna (tune by hand) finally came today . . . just in time for Big Bear this weekend!!! Looks like I'll need to get a SWR meter to tune the antenna . . . Radio Shack carries one I just have to track one down as the store by my house is out. It costs about $50 . . . does that sound about right? Any ideas on where else might carry one?

Tuning Antenna
Thanks guys . . . I found one at Fry's. I hooked it up and everything looks ok as I am reading under 2. I followed the instructions on FireStick.com and tested channels 1, 19, and 40. The first reading with the antenna adustment screwed all the way in was 1.9, 1.6, and 1.3. After some adjusting, I got it to read 1.6, 1.3, 1.4 . . . is this good or do I need to keep adjusting until the #s match exactly? That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

So I went to the store and still had the SWR meter hooked up and it was reading considerably higher than earlier today . . . should I worry about this? I noticed that there is a black ruber gasket on the adjustment screw but it seems to do little to keep tension on the threads . . . am I supposed to lock the adjustment screw in place with something? Coming back from the store I stopped at the end of my street and the meter was reading lower than ever . . . I'm confused!!!That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
