so tonight i was showing a few buds what my new exaust sounded like, i had it in nuetral and was revving it a little more then i should have been. the only problem was that it wasnt locked in nuetral all the way and it slid down into over drive at about 4000rpm, all i heard was a big thunk and if i go over 50km/h i cant feel the back of my xj grinding and vibrating. i was wondering what a new dana 35 would cost, also would a dana 44 work aswell? 1991 xj 4.0 HO

get a D44 or Ford 8.8. I wouldnt even consider a new D35.
-
lets say the cheapest is $800 and the most expensive is $3400 (ask me how I know)...
800+3400=4200
4200/2=2100
$2100 is the average price.

$2100 is the average price.
I parted out an Xj a while ago and sold the D44 for $500.
So . . .
800+3400+500 = 4700
4700/3 = 1566.66
So the NEW average price of a D44 is $1566.66. Its getting cheaper.

Holy shit where are you guys buying these rear ends ? That kind of money for a 44 is insane. Hit up a junk yard and look for them. 87-89 XJ's had D44's. If it's in the rig and they let you pull it usually they will sell it for $200-$250(you need your own tools) If its just the axle waiting pick up, avg price is $400 MAX.. We're talking a stock D44 out of XJ thats a direct bolt on. Now these are prices for our local yards im sure they vary but damn i cannot seeing them be more then $500 for a stock 44 anywhere. Also keep your eyes peeled on NAXJA.org for sale section there up for sale all the time.
