  • What do I call the seal I need?

I'm trying to find axle shaft seals for the inner end of the shaft (by the carrier). It seems every vendor calls them "wheel seal, inner". Last time I checked, the wheels go on the ends of the tubes - not in the middle. Am I missing something?
When I search this description the only images I see are for either the hub bearings for a Dana 44 with manual hubs or outer seals.
If anyone has some valid part numbers I would appreciate it if you could post them.
    I have a 1974 ScoutII rear 44 and a 1985 Grand Wagoneer front 44.
    Thanks for any help!

Well... I've found the Scout seal is Crown J8124832. It cross references to national or duralast 5131. It has 1.31 ID with 2 1/4" OD
    Still hunting down the Wagoneer seal. All I find are 2 1/4", 2 5/16" & 2 5/8". The Wagoneer tube is 3" OD with 5/16" walls - making the OD I need 2 3/8" (2.375).

The 1985 Grand Wagoneer has a tube OD of 3". The inner axle seal has a 2 5/8" (2.62, 2.622, 2.63) The part number is 2300 for all manufacturers, Timken, National, Duralast (Autozone), MasterPro (O'Reilly)
