At any rate, welcome. Unfortunately, none of us is smart enough to help you online without more info.

Sounds like a sentry key problem.
Is this what the light looks like, with a slash through it?

"Key light" makes sense now. I stand corrected, at least one of us is smart enough.

You need to correct this at the dealer with the correct Sentry key programming.

That key symbol is indicating the ignition key you're trying to use either has a defective ID chip inside, no ID chip at all, or it hasn't been programmed properly.

Your Grand Cherokee has a SKIM (Security Key Immobilizer Module) anti-theft security system which requires a SKIM type ignition key to generate a specific security code when interrogated byt the SKIM key reader mounted inside the steering column.

So my guess is you had a new key made that doesn't have the proper SKIM (security) chip inside, or the chip in the key has gone bad. This can be further verified by the engine stopping 1-2 seconds after it starts... indicating the SKIM security system has detected an invalid ignition key and shut the engine off.
