Brakes!

Let me clarify my situation. I replaced my master cylinder with a unit from Navajo Brakes (505 325-5761). On the street I can lock up my 33's, but in low range 4 wheel drive I have to kick the trans into neutral on a steep spot sometimes to hold the Jeep in place. It's a lot of fun on a steep switchback (New Dixie). 2 cents worth. the Navajo unit was a direct bolt on item.

If you really want the Jeep to stop go vanco brake booster and calipers and never look back. Got one of those boosters to work on a CJ and it's nice to lock 35's up at will

As the proud owner of the above mentioned CJ... I can say without a doubt that Vanco by AW12345 is the way to go!

I will also say that if you are not a "brake guy", I would recommend having a "brake guy" do this work... Stopping is not something to be taken for granted.

I am sure someone else will comment and clarify. But, to put it into neutral instead of gear has to do with the exhaust pressure line? Not enough pressure? Could be hole in the line or low compression? Have it checked out Mitch, safety first

Or a bunch of torque with the old 4.2 and a 3 speed auto and low gears. Great compression. Perfect till its in 4 wheel low. Brakes work great in high range or in neutral.

Most people I know with 35's with an auto had to go to vanco brakes. Ron it has to do with auto verses manual.

So far for me 35"s auto and 4.10 gears stock brakes work good when in 4 low. I think if i put a 4:1 kit in the tcase, then i would have issues.
