atf will cause fluid leake on the seals of the steering gear and powersteering pump on a lot of different cars and trucks, seems to harden the seals somehow

Best luck I have had for PS fluid so far is the new Amsoil synthetic power steering fluid. I'm running it in a couple of my Jeeps now and its working fine. Previously only used regular PS fluid, never had any luck using ATF+4 in ones that spec'd it.

fwiw, I know the guys running ram assist steering are loving the Amsoil synthetic tractor fluid in their steering systems.
