Play with your tire pressure to improve the ride. When I had my tires mounted, the idiots put 45 psi of pressure and it just about rattled every bolt loose when I drove the Jeep. I am running at 25 psi on the street and it is smooth sailing, but I run 33x12.5x17 load range E tires. If you don't have the time to do it right, what makes you think you'll have the time to do it twice?

Yeah they had mine at 41 and the bumps between lanes felt like bricks!!! I'm running 33 and it's a whole lot better. I noticed in the Rubicon Express Catalog, they make a different rear track bar drop bracket for use with a CV driveshaft to place it at the right angle to avoid binding (say's it's a must have when going to a CV driveshaft...kinda like the rear uppers). My trackbar looks a bit off in the bracket so hopefully the new bracket will correct that . . . they also sell an adjustable rear track bar for use with the bracket, but it doesn't say that it's a must have . . . anybody have experience with this . . . if I'm going to need the adjustable track bar, I'd rather just do it once and be done with it. Everybody tells me that in the long run, I'll be happy that I've gone to the CV style, but damn, I wish I would have known up front what all it intails so I could have just done it all at once! That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

Tri-link......
While we're on this subject of Joe's rear end......
Can everyone put their :2: in on the Tri link rear setup.....
I've heard good things about it, as it takes care of the track bar binding issue by just getting rid of of the track bar completely.
I know Joe will not want to go this route, as he has already gone with new uppers, but it is worth considering......
But, I would like to find out opinions about this....
But, if it's worth it, it might be a better way to go for the long run.
Ok, guys(and girls) who has the tri....and why....and who thinks it's too much????
Sorry for busting in on your thread, Joe :hijack:David aka Mr.Orange
I think it's my turn for a bailout....what do you think?

Joe,
The trackbar binding (if aftermarket) is caused by the bushing on the frame side. The only way to eliminate it is to redesign the frame bracket so that the bushing doesn't bind anymore. As far getting an adjustable one, if your axle is centered side to side, then you don't need one.If you don't have the time to do it right, what makes you think you'll have the time to do it twice?

The adjustable trackbars come with a threaded part so that you adjust the length according to your setup to recenter the axle. If you are going to buy one, might as well get the adjustable.
Installation is a snap, the only thing would be to jack up the axle if the holes are not perfectly lined up so you can slide in the bolt.If you don't have the time to do it right, what makes you think you'll have the time to do it twice?

So do you think that the new bracket will only address the angle/binding and I'll need to get the new adjustable trackbar to eliminate the 1/4" my rear is off? What will the 1/4" do to the Jeep (ie: tire/gear wear, steering, etc)? That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

At this point the only stock parts in the suspension are the rear trackbar and front upper control arms . . . I'm starting to think "Hell I've gone this far, might as well finish it off and have it right"That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

Joe,
Welcome to the wonderful world of modification.
The problem with your stock track bar is that if the rear is already out 1/4 inch, there is undue tension on the track bar and when you flex hard the bracket on the axle is taking a lot of stress. The welds usually hold, it's the bracket that winds up twisting off. It takes a while, but mine did it last year, and mine was true (axle centered). You might want to drop the bills for the adjustable track bar now. Just cuz I know with the new lift you'll be pushing to see what you can do now.
