With a welder on the way, I got to thinking . . . what does everyone else have in their garage/workshops. I got a list of what I would like to have:
Welder (of course)
Drill press
Bench Grinder
Belt sander
Chop Saw
Sheetmetal brake
Oxy/Act
Air Compressor

And if I want to think REALLY BIG:
Vertical Mill
Lathe

welder, bench grinder, angle grinder, lots of hand tools... maybe an air compressor for x-mas (i use my OBA to run the impact as it is) been also looking into a chop saw.. the angle grinder with a cutting wheel is a PITA

Welder, angle grinder, chop saw, air compressor, air tools, lots of hand tools, Jacks, jack stands and if I feel like going to the base there is a hobby shop with everything including lifts, tire machines and lots of other goodies. Basically I have at my disposal almost anything I could think of for working on a vehicle.

Let's see: a variety of hand tools, angle grinder (newly purchased), a power drill (also newly purchased), jack stands and other stuff. Also, christmas decorations out the ying yang (that's me), baby stuff, an unused queen size waterbed (mine, which Tom hates but I can't part with ), and junk, and more junk that I haven't been able to go through.

I could show you how to flame-cut metal in about ten minutes. To get nice, smooth cuts just requires some practice, and a steady hand...

Boxes of baby/child clothes
after wading through that:
Wide array of hand tools,
new 1/2" drill
new 4.5" angle grinder ( there was this tool sale... )
Bike stand
2 mountain bikes
1 road bike frame ( I'll get back to building that after the jeep gets some more altitude/attitude )
2 bins of misc. bike parts( and I think my wife's a packrat )
6-ton jackstands
and last but not least, 2 bfrs ( for chocking the jeep)

Excuse me! Who's mountain bikes, road bike frame and 2 small bins of bike parts?? I'm only the pack rat when it comes to Christmas Decorations

I think when making comparisons of this nature it's important to consider the volume and sheer mass of the items involved. The bike's and parts would fit in a small shed; the Christmas decorations require the area of an entire garage....

(note to self: The next time I see Tom and Sandy, remember to "duck and run" from Sandy...)

What's in my garage??? Too much crap to put the jeep in it right now!!!

OK, I do have 1/2 of the floor cleared out while the epoxy dries.....

So, there is the Millermatic 210 (welder), Hypertherm 380 (plazma cutter), 14" chop saw, 600 pounds of hand tools, all standard air tools (impact, die grinder, air hammer, needle gun, cut off tool, etc), all standard electric power tools (drill, hammer drill, angle grinder, bench grinder, etc), variety of jacks and jack stands. Air compressor comes tomorrow, along with some more wood working tools (gotta love day-after thanksgiving sales).

Tube bender (probably JD model 4) and a notcher will probably be the next things to come (after I finish the furnature, and paint the house, and lift the jeep, and....)
