I didn't want to fill your thread with my pics. Here's a link to my Picasa page, with a few pics and some explination.

Almost forgot to take a picture this weekend. Acutally I did forget and took one this morning before work.
There are 1/2 dozen tie down points to keep my tools and ice chest from rolling around. I'm happy with it as it got rid of the tire carrier I had.

That's what I did as well, works pretty good, and you can tie stuff down on top of the tire too. I put some eye-bolts on the top of the tub lip to help tie things down on top of the tire.

This is the only photo I have I think:

                Thanks for the ideas everyone.

So far all I've done was drain the gerry can, and take the high lift off, and remove the tool box out of the back and the ride is awesome on and off road with this new suspension. I plan on swapping the hard top for a soft top so I'm thinking I'll lose about 130/140 lbs there? I'm thinking I'll be able to downsize my tool box and retain the same ride?

I like the Orfab swing you have Daniel, may go that route with a Savvy Aluminum rear bumper? I just have to find out what thats gonna weigh compared to my warn rear bumper/swing. I may be able to lose a little more weight by swapping the factory tank skid with an aluminum one? Not sure how much?

Now what to do with the high lift? Inside or on the hood?

I don't have the Savvy bumper, I have a SWAG. It's really low profile, but that just puts my gas tank as the item that hits everything on drop-offs now, haha!

Daniel and Curtis, idea works with strapping the tire down, and packing stuff around the tire. Remember that if you go that route, You will have to remove most of the gear in back to get the tire out. With a rack, the tire slides out on its own. No gear to remove. Also you must make sure everything in back is strapped down. You don't want your tool box or ice chest to become a projectile, if something bad happens. I only mention this, cuz I've had to remove everything in back, a few times for flats. Believe me, it gets old fast.

I have not had to use a spare tire in over 35 years. Thats why I don't carry a spare tire 99.9% of the time. I do carry lots of plugs and SS wire. But I have not had to use them for many years. Just lucky I guest.

Wish I had your luck, I cut a tire, about every other run. Guess I need to pick better lines.

                          I hear you Tumbleweed.

Curtis, hope your tire luck holds out.

Daniel you could always move the rear axle back to solve your tank smacking.:thumbs_up

My gas tank hitting is the reason I made all my changes. My tank hit every time I came to a drop off. After ditching the tire carrier, and putting a genright crawler tank in, I gained 3" of tank clearance.

I ditched the spare and carry CO2 and a plug kit. We have fixed some pretty good rips in sidewalls with plug kits. Spare sits on the trailer in camp or staging area.

Found a flaw in my rack. I should've made the upper rim, out of a smaller material, it's 1" square tube, now. The hook on a ratchet strap, or small cargo net will not hook onto the rim cuz its too wide. For now I'll have to loop around the edge, and hook the strap, to it's self. Prob gonna have to add some "I" bolts or something.
