I removed my spare tire form my tailgate because I could see the stress it was putting on it. One day the door just opened while i was driving down the road and that was the final straw. The tire has been in the back of the Jeep ever since. Anyway I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions on how to secure it while on the trail. Driving on the street has been fine but i don't want that thing taking my head off on the trail.

That big enough to bend the tailgate, especially on the trail. One option is to go grab some interior tie-down points out of the junkyard. Sean has some out of a suburban. They are triangle shaped and fold down. They are very sturdy and do not rattle. You may have to drop your fuel tank to put them in though. Those left standing
