  • Schmo Fabin' Again

Noticed that my crazy neighbor left early this morning so I decided I'd go ahead and reopen Schmo's Fab Shop and put my newly acquired skills to the test. I've picked up quite a bit of experience with a cutoff wheel and grinder hanging out with Josh (Tomb Raider) over the last few months and I've been wanting to chop my front bumper, but wanted to keep the stock shape. Took about 7.5 inches off all together. Got her chopped painted and back on the Jeep before the nut even got back so I hopefully I won't get a nastygram from the HOA this time. SUCCESS!!!

What did you use to paint them?

I plan on just cutting them short of the frame and give a nice new paint job.

I used Krylon Satin Black . . . I've got it on my rockers and tube doors as well. I like it because it dries very quickly. I sanded the bumper a bit and just hit it with a coat or two. I could have gone a bit shorter, but wanted to keep the factory fogs and liked the shape of the stock bumper.

Thanks! Next, I've got to cash in some of my grinding time on Josh's beast and get my front LCA skids welded on. After that, I'll probably add some support to the stock cage . . . looking at some of the Rock Hard pieces to secure the front area. Need to get out wheelin though . . . the front bumper is the only clean part of the Jeep and it looks kinda funny.

I know people prefer this, but i would do a weld in cage instead of a bolt in.
