  • I want a lower gear.... yet i wanna keep my highway driveability

I have the t176 tranny and dana 300... a d35 up front and amc 20 out back.. sporting 35inch boggers.

I love the driveability going down the road..... but I know she lacks a lot on the bottom side.... first gear just isnt low enough.... even in 4 low.

isnt there a 4.00:1 ratio kit for the d300 transfer case? I'm thinking about swapping trannys... I have one from an 82 model chevy 1-ton... but I think I have to do some mods to it to make it work.

Axle gears are an option but not right now....I plan on going up to 38-40 inch tires but first gunna try to wear these boggers out. Then I'll definately look @ gears... which will probably include axle swaps and air lockers
80 cj5- under going sbc swap, dana 60 and 14 bolt sping overs
    86 cj7- stock.

There is indeed a 4:1 kit available for the D300. Advance Adapters makes one for sure. There may be other suppliers as well.
'96 XJ, HP D30 front, XJ D44 rear, Lockright/E-Locker, 4.56's, Cobra CB, 33" Pro Comp xTreme MT's, SYE, Smittybilt XRC10 winch with Synth Rope, mutt lift.
