the dana 30 is a great axle, it is light, strong, and has great clearence. you do not hear many guys with them complaining.
I am with Scout99 about the HP30, the gears turning the correct way make it even stronger, and it is a direct swap in. going super 30 involves cost that may be better spent do the hp30 swap and then thinking of the super30.
I know that if you listen to the magizine guys, you will end up with a d50 d60 set up and believe that nothing can stop you, but Listen to some of the guys here, People like Nailer and Dukes have been running regular D30s and abusing them past the point most guys care to, and still run them. They are great axles. Plus they have great clearence,

Yes, drug one out of the pick a part. $75 for a non-disco 4.10 HP XJ axle. They aren't light. Lots of XJ guys wheel the crap out of them with 35's. I've seen 1 broken housing, and a few broken u-joints. The U-joint retainer clip will pop loose, then the cap will work it's way out, then you will hear a bang as your spotter starts to ask if that's your cap that just shot out by his feet. Put full circlip axles in, and carry spares. A 30 is plenty tough for most of us.

actually, I've lifted a D60 that was quite a bit lighter, granted the center section was aluminum... :thumbs_up :yay:

I have lifted a hp9 without inners or knuckles to put it in the truck. What do I win?
I can break a steel ball in a rubber room.
