I just installed my Advance Adapter heavy duty NP 231 SYE and shaft. I also installed a new Tom Woods CV driveshaft. I did this because I also installed a 4.5" Rubicon Express extreme duty SUA lift. I installed the shims that came with the lift kit. I just drove my jeep today and it still has a vibration. Does anybody have experience with dealing with this kind of problem? Please help as my wife REALLY thinks I'm crazy know for spending all this money on the jeep when"it drove just fine before!!!!".

two possible problems... drive shaft balance or improper pinion angle.
although a new drive shaft should have been correctly balanced from the manufacturer, some arn't quite right after shipment.
on a YJ you should point your axle pinion a few degrees below straight on to allow for axle wrap. :2:

I am going to ditto what blkTJ said...
The driveshaft may be out of balance, though this is unlikely.
The most likely culprit is the angle. Just installing a CV driveshaft does not make the vibes go away, in some cases it might even make them worse.
This is due to the angle of the drive shaft out both the output of the transfer case, and the axle.
I could go into great detail on this, but i don't need to. There is a good write up here___________________________

I recommend steel shims, aluminum ones break up and fall out. BTF has them www.bluetorchfab.com - great products!!"your jeep looks so hot!!"

If all else fails, call Tom Woods up and talk to him. He is always willing to help you out (especially since you bought one of his driveshafts).
To start with, as already mentioned, measure the pinion angle. Don't guess at what the angle is, measure it, and be sure.olllllllo <--- If you can read that, roll me over!
Price is soon forgotton, quality is not.

FWIW, I had a prob with my BellyUp skidplate and a 4.5" ARB/RE lift. Despite hogging out the ears, still had some rear DS/T-case bind up on hard acceleration. A MML and BL made the TC/rear DS angle more tolerable.Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
