  • Warn Hub Kit

Giving thought to doing the Warn Hub Kit.

    My main concern is this:

    1. I already have chromoly shafts w/ 760 UJ, can I reuse my outers or do I have to use the warn ones?

    2. I currently have the Ford Explorer Sport Trac rotors with my WJ knuckles/brakes. Anyone else use this combo with the hub kit and did the rotors need to be machined to fit the hub?

    3. Should I even bother putting more money into my Rubi44?

No, you have to use the warn outers.

Probably, measure the center hole and I'll tell you.

    3. Should I even bother putting more money into my Rubi44?
    No, get a HP30

Why do you want the warn hub kit if your Rubi 44 already has cromo axles.

The big reason D30 users go to Warn hub conversion is to use the hubs as a fuse and protect the D30 gears. But you already have D44 gears so why put more money in the Rubi 44.

I am not worried about the R&P but the U-Joint going taking the shaft with it. I would much rather have a hub go over an axle shaft.

If it is a Spicer 760X you should be OK (I also have a front Rubi 44 with Alloy USA shafts, spicer 760X and WJ X-over steering).

If you want a little more strength in your Spicer 760 then have them Cryo-treated. I believe JE Reel can do it. Or look for 66CJDean on pirate 4x4. He also does that.

If you want cromoly U-joints there are 2 more options.

              1. Jantz U-Joint which has gotten great feedback.
              2. Longfields 300M U Joint.

              Check em out.

I know a senior chief over on the coastie base, he's got an awesome set of tools.
In facts he's doing a 5 on 4.5" pattern on some WJ rotors for another project I'm working on for a friend now.

If that's the case, then you forgot the Ox Joint.
