  • NP242 Transfercase

Hey Folks, I have been registered here for a while but i havent had much free time, but now i have a pretty big problem and i need some advice.

the NP242 on my jeep grenaded today out on the highway, and i called some local junkyards, and none of them have a 242. My question is, can I install a 231 or some other T-Case in its place. And also, what alse should i check for damage, i was goin about 70 and the T-case blew apart, just wondering if this could have hurt anything else. Thanks alot

I dont see why you couldnt. You will just loose the full ttime function. IIRC different years/engins have different spline counts/imput shaft lengths. Just count and measure yours so you get the right one. Try E-bay for one?
