Don't even think about doing all that work and and not putting a new throwout bearing in. Get a new friction disc and pilot bearing too. The throwout bearings are about $60 (not exactly the cheapest in terms of throwout bearings). If you buy online you'll probably be more successful searching for "release bearings."
