As for the whole dif spreader thing, I own one of them puppies and yes you definitely want to use one when doing a regear. its very important to get the carrier bearing preload right.

We pulled the front diff assy from Snoopy's Lj and tore into it. Changed to 4.88 from 4.10. set it up and it came out right on the money, with good rolling torque and backlash, and the contact pattern was sweet. Will do the rear today , so it is not as hard as you might think, as long as you have the right tools.06 UNL RUBI 4.5 LA,KM 2-35's/ 4.88 BEADLOCKS/SKIDS/WINCH

Well we did it, took us 2 days but we got her done. Pulled the complete diffs out and worked them on a stand. Way to do it. Now it is going to be my LJ swap to a 4.56 gear from 4.10.06 UNL RUBI 4.5 LA,KM 2-35's/ 4.88 BEADLOCKS/SKIDS/WINCH

Pinion depth setting tool and a case spreader. Made the case spreader, and bought the setting tool through Randy' Ring & pinion. Dial indicator and base from Harbor Freight.06 UNL RUBI 4.5 LA,KM 2-35's/ 4.88 BEADLOCKS/SKIDS/WINCH
