  • Front passenger seat belt help

Just out of the blue my passenger side front seat belt in my 2000 TJ has seized up. I have dug around in there to see if anything is obstructing it, but can't see anything.

    Any ideas? Replacement ideas?

There is a little steel ball inside that works as a gravity lock. Ever noticed how it can be difficult or impossible to put your seatbelt on when you're Jeep is at an odd angle? One more reason to get harnesses. It's possible that you have some corrosion or crap in there that's getting in the way of that ball or something else. IIRC, you need a torx security bit to take it off, but I don't remember what size. (I'm no longer using the stock roll bar.) Short of removing it you might be able to blow it with compressed air or tap it with something.

If you want to replace it I'm sure there would be tons of suitable replacements at a local Ecology or Pick-A-Part. If you get it from a Jeep, bring your torx security bits.

If you need to buy a new one, two of my friends have bought from this company and they seem to have really good pricing.

Can't hurt to check it out. Look around the site as I know I saw a Jeep specific section...

Do you know if these are new or used? I know he is a jeep salvage yard so that is why I ask... I was not sure if he had new parts or not.

It's all salvaged parts, but they are in like new condition with all the hardware included. I got a set of rear seat belts with all the hardware & floor brackets from him. Very reasonably priced. I also got an oil pan too, to replace the one I put a hole in as I tried to spin the DJ on a point boulder!! hehe

Thanks! Now if it would stop raining long enough for me to get out there and dig into it
