What about just bolting in and existing system? If it is too expensive new you can find these on Tacoma and Tundras and Frontiers and Titans in the Junk Yard.
This project will not be a custom fabricated mod... I broke down and bought this:

I have been keeping an eye on the CoreTrax stuff at various online stores and came across this Costco deal. Most prices I've seen are about the same as the costco price for only 2x48" trax and 2 locks. The Costco deal is 2x48" trax, 2x5" trax, 2 6' ratcheting tie downs, 6 heavy duty locks, and 2 "utility locks.

So what is best for securing babies, ratchet straps, or zip ties? might try one of those stretch nets next
An XJ will always cost you less then any girl ever will, and you will always know when the spark is gone.

I'm thinking neither... bungie cords... This way they aren't jolted too much, but are still kept in.

Just taking it out of the box, it looks nice, but I'll report back once it's installed and I've used it a couple times.

Also, moving this out of "custom mods" to a different forum...

I use strut extensively at work, the difference between shallow and deep is not that much, shallow being 7/8ths and deep being 1 5/8ths gives you a difference of 3/4s of an inch. I say that because I only use shallow when space is a huge issue. The deep strut is way more usefull as you are not having to deal with squeezing a fitting into it because it bent a little, and in a jeep that will be a bit of an issue. Anyway I want to see some of the stuff you mod up for strut. I have always thought it would be a great idea because of its strength and versatility.
