  • Home-made cargo net on the Cheep

Just for kicks today I stopped by harbor freight and bought $4.99 worth of "all purpose rope". Did a little google search on how to weave a cargo net and this is what I came up with.

Eventually this will be the before picture...

The first part was the hardest part.

I actually got a little further than this. I was able to attache those bottom loops. It ate up a lot more rope then I thought It would. This is 75 feet of rope so far. Not sure it will be totally worth it when I am done. The smittybuilt cargo nets are $80. But I figure if I spend $20 and teach my self how to make a cargo net, I still win.

I like, rope doesn't go far when doing that. You are cheap like me but more creative.

            Update

Ok imp two thirds of the way done. This side only took me 30 min. I am experimenting with the hole sizes. On the passenger side I made the holes almost twice as big. I think I will like something in-between. The dog likes the passenger side more because he can stick his head thru the holes (but he still can’t get out). He is good at staying in the Jeep on the trail. But when we stop and get out he wants out too.

Scott one thing though, dogs have a habit of sticking their head through things, would be a shame if your dog would hang it self and choke to death.
Other than that great job very creative

Thats is a good point. I think I will spend the 30 minutes and redo the pasanger side. And Then do the middle section the same. My dog Rosko is loving riding around in the Jeep with me. I think I will take him with me on the Johnson Vally Tour.
