Hey! I'm about to turn 15, Dad just gave me his jeep to start fixing up for when I'm 16 (and however months.)

    It's a '97 TJ (mfg. 10/96)

Here's what I'd like to know:

I want to get a Bikini top, for the warmer seasons, I've been looking at this:

    http://shopping.jeep4x4center.com/po...umber=52544-35

But it's for a TJ Unlimited, but do you all know if they make one like it for a '97 TJ?

Also I'd like to get some roll-up window doors, the ones that are on it now you can't even zip down they're so old. Know of any 'sites with used ones that you can buy from?

Also, I'd like to get a hardtop for the winter, but I can't find any in the below $1000 price range.

Thanks, I'm sure that I'll have some more questions later.

Welcome aboard and congrats on the jeep! As for the bikini - give Quadratec a call and they'll get you what you need, 1-800-745-2348. And yeah, it sucks, hard tops are expensive. Good luck getting the jeep together!

Thanks! I'll call them once I get together exactly what I need.

Also, it's a short wheel base (SWB?) if that helps any.

I'll try an get some pics soon.

Welcome!! Nice 16th bday present! The safari top you are looking at only includes the top itself. It is not including the rear duster deck cover and the windjammer (separates the drivers seats from the rear). Quadratec has a "value" line that is really cheap in price. I bought one of the value line safari tops and it held up very well. It didn't flap around and is rather quite strong. They do have a thing at Quadratec by Bestop, called a halftop. http://www.quadratec.com/products/pr...w=halftop&pg=1
If you go online to quadratec you can request a catalog...it comes in just a couple days and will have everything you might want/need in one place!
            Good luck!

Hey there! Welcome aboard. Good Luck with the Jeep. A soft top can get you through the winter in VA as long as the heater works. I only had a soft top for the two years that I lived in St. Louis.

I'd also like to get a CB before I get my license, any recommendations on what type?

My opinion is to spend your money on the best antenna and cable that you can afford. The CB is not nearly as important as the antenna. Most any will do the trick.

If you have any truck stops nearby, they are the best place to get your CB. They tweek them before selling them so they are good to go! If you can talk to the truckers, sometimes they have extra ones sitting around from their own personal upgrades...will save you some money.
