Ok, someone asked to intro myself. Retired navy, live in Lakeside, and own a 91 XJ that I've been slowly building.
Wheel most the time with socalxj guys, intro to rock crawling was at JV so everything else looks tame now. The real MJR who wheels an 88 Wagoneer Woody mentioned this was a pretty cool group, so I figured I'd check it out.

The Jeep itself is a 91 Limited that I got for cheap with a rear main seal that would dump huge amount of oil. Plugged/repaired all the leaks, added an RE 6200 5.5" lift, 231 with SYE, regeared a 44 to match a 4 banger 4.10 front, added some armor and wheel it.

Here's some shots from last weekend on Holcomb Creek trail. We did Holcomb and John Bull.

Like the guy at 4w parts said. "Wow, you actually use yours..."

I guess a _TON_ of their customers are all posers who build them up and never take them off road or scratch/dent them. I bought it cheap with a leak, replaced gaskets, did the lift/lockers/axles/SYE/Armor all by myself or with the help of a couple friends. I'm right at $4000 in the thing including the purchase price. Funny thing is, it was offered to me cheap as I was looking for an 85 4Runner, and a guy at work got tired of the XJ leaking in his driveway. 6 Months of weekly ecology walk throughs to find a 44 and a 4.10 4cyl non disco front axle.

Oh, it's got a handheld CB and an ICOM 208H in it. Most the socalxj guys are Amateur radio operators after seeing it save a life on the Rubicon a few years ago.

Looks pretty good, got tired of Naxja crashing all the time.
The other MJR is Mike Rollins, he had nothing but good to say about you guys out at big bear. I guess he registered with his initials MJR here.
