Hello everyone, My name is Bo and I am new to the site. I am not new to Jeeps though. I have owned 4 MJs, 1 WJ, 2 ZJs, and over 25 XJs. I am a US Marine stationed in 29 Palms...

    again.

My current Mall Crawler is a 86 MJ with a Magnum 318. The truck is currently still being built but I should be ready to run by this summer. The truck has a 6" lift with 33s. The axles are stock 84 XJ D30/D35 with factory 4:56 gears. I will be doing a rear disc conversion to the D35 as well.

here is a quick shot of the MJ

Easy to be a truck, hard to be a Jeep!

Welcome to the site. Bet you cant wait to get that done and do some wheeling. I know the feeling I just finised a 3 year build a couple months ago and am just now getting to wheel again.
It's not leaking it's marking its territory.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone!

I guess I have been through a lot of Jeeps. I like to buy them cheap and flip them after a few months for a small profit. I normally have more time and labor in them than what they are worth when I sale them. I consider it a labor of love. I have never really been a Y/TJ fan. I do like a LJ though. I cut my teeth on a 2000 XJ and just really enjoy the extra wheelbase.

Sadly the MJ will never see any trails. There is a really good possibility that it is the earliest truck produced. It is destined the be a DD/Show rig. I have yet to find an earlier VIN # than my truck's. the last six digits of the VIN are 003550. If you take into account that XJs rolled down the same line and their VINs were in sequence with the MJs. Also all your pre-production "crusher" trucks and demos. This makes my truck a real novelty. All the removed MJ specific parts have a build date of 4/85. I have restored this truck once already. I sold it and the new owner destroyed it. I got it back as a carcass for the most part. No engine, trans, transfer, or seat.

I am hoping to get her back to her former glory.

                All better

How I got it back in 2010

I forgot to mention she had the rare factory black interior. And I do mean had!

This was my $400 parts donor. 94 ZJ V8

And that's the story of "Black Betty" to this point.

At least it has the same tires, right? Sucks to see something you once valued get torn apart like that.

I got the wiring laid out in the engine bay. My plan to mount the CPU in the stock 86 location failed. There was not enough room to fit it between the dash and the firewall.

I mounted it instead in the stock ZJ location. Right in front of the blower motor. I had to tilt it down just a hair to make room for the wiring and A/C if I choose to use it in the future.

                            Anyone want a spaghetti dinner?

                            the CPU

I also got the PDC laid out

And lastly the alt and starter wiring is done.

Now that all that mess is figured out I can start soldering all them together to make one harness.
