  • Newbie here.. Billy Vallette.. 05 Rubi from Long Beach

heya folks nice to meet ya! i'm an official subscriber (as soon as paypal clears). i have an 05 rubicon automatic trans bone stock that i have big plans for but somewhat limited budget. i will be running 35's. my plan is tentative somewhat but the first week of january i will be lifting with 4" short arm and 1.25" BL rough country X series with upgraded shocks (ok..let the bullets fly)! like i said, somewhat limited funds and zero patience. i just want to get it up and get out wheelin with you guys. any opinions and advice is solicited! thanx Billy aka spearheadbill ps; anyone want to sell a used 35" MT for a spare?

Welcome to MJR Billy! No doubt you'll get a ton of advice from the folks on here! We all hear what your sayin about the budget thing, it's taken me 8 or so years to get mine set up so don't feel bad at all! Hope to see you out there real soon!

Howdie neighbor. Welcome to MJR. I like everyone else can't seem to get that money tree to grow in the back yard or I would have my Jeep completed.

                    My New Wheels

                    WoW !
So I'm no auto mechanic by any means, but I figured I've got the tools, garage and enough mechanical experience to pull off a little bolt on suspension lift kit and get'r done in like half the time the directions say! So I hire a friend of mine to help me out, give me a little moral support while i get bizzy.
Friday night I've been up since 4:30am and worked a 10 hour shift and I just HAVE to get this thing done and over to get it aligned by saturday because... well.... i just have to! So why not pull an all nighter? Lot's of coffee and redbull should do the trick.
At bout 4:30 am we've finally got the front end done. At this point both of us are almost delirous and wishing some rabid tweeker mob would ride by on bicycles with their trademark flashlights taped to the handlbars digging in my trash can and then we could get some of that "work all night on your lift kit powder" They always keep with them. Thank god... no such luck! We decide to forge ahead with the rear end.... it should be easier and alot faster!!!
After about 10 hours of rolling around on what seemed like the coldstone creamery cement floor of my garage and watching the sun come up. This is what we ended up with.... 4" rough country x series kit with 35" Goodyear Kevlar MT/R's I haven't put the body/motor mount lift in yet. any suggestions on what to do about skid protection? I still have alot of work to do on it.... it's a project right?

Welcome, Billy. The next upgrade I'd do is some dirt. That thing is blinding me.
