  • Another Newbie To MJR

Hello all! My Name is Gary, I stumbled across your website searcing for information about a trail Yesterday. Great site.

I have a 05 Rubicon, Pic below. Been building it up as time and money permits. I've been wheelin all around the desert, and even went up to Bodie with some freinds. Had a long brake from wheelin approx 20 years do to work and so on. I was a Independent Owner Operator Truck Driver during that time. I run my own trucking compnay, ltl freight brokerage and dispatch service now with my Brothers and we're off almost every weekend either Jeepin or fishing. At least one day out for the weekend we find a trail somewhere. We're looking to buy a second jeep within a few months. Anyways I spent a lot of time yesterday reading through the threads, lots of good info here. Hope I run into some of you guys out on a trail sometime.

This pic was taken west of Bridgeport.

These pic's where in JV in the hills west of the Means dry lake.

Yeah I read about that, Thanks. I'm only running 33's right now and I hear most the trails you guys run in JV require at least 35's ? Maybe there's a trail my 33' will get me through?

Gary, there are three trails that you will do just fine with 33s: Fissure mountain, Rattlesnake canyon, and the "new" trail. I have not run Rattlesnake canyon but I hear a good driver with a nearly stock 4X4 can make it. You will probably need one locker for Fissure Mountain but it is just the beginning where you will need it. The end of Fissure is a pretty steep downhill which adds a bit of pucker factor.:omg:

          Welcome Gary,

You did find the best Jeepin' website on the planet. Your Rubicon rocks and you can run most of the tough trails with the rig you have!

Thanks GP4play, Roger. I'll have to work on my jeep this weekend. A few weeks ago I intalled a sports cage and took my CB out, will need to mount my first aid kit, and fire exstinguisher also. I heard they check your rig out thuroughly at the events.

                    Gary,

Welcome to MJR! There are lots of High Desert Jeepers here. Usually several runs a week as an average. If you want to do some exploring or just compare notes, drop me a line. My local mines list is coming up on 40 explored so far. Have fun.

Ron, Mitch, Tony and anyone I may have missed, Thanks for the welcome.

Mitch I've checked out a few old mining sites. I dig that sort of thing, will have to hook up for one of these mine runs.

Thanks Scott. I don't have a much for undercarraige armor yet so I'll prob take one of the easier trails. I still need a tank, and oil pan skid.

Yeah, you definately need belly armor on this trail.
No gas tank skid? That's odd.
