  • Oak Hills Jeep Guy

I'm an old desert racer who lives up in Oak Hills. I have two Jeeps. My 69CJ5 is kind of an ongoing project. V6, power steering, 16 forward gears, 48 gears, and such. Just got done rewiring it which turned out to be a fun project. The 95 XJ Cherokee is a new project. So far I've put tow points front and rear. It has a 4.0 and auto trans, selec loc T/C, 8.25 with posi in the rear with a D30 high pinion in the front. I'm planning rock rails and a 4.5 lift as soon as I can free up some garage space with much more to come. Both have CB radios. I trailer the CJ5 and am setting the XJ up for comfortable trail running. I'm pretty new to the whole 4x4 scene even though I've had one for years. My focus for 40 years was motorcycles but at 64 my wife tells me it is time to grow up and I confess I want the comfort the XJ provides. I'm joining some friends from Camarillo on a Jeep trip to Death Valley the end of March but I really want to meet some local people. I currently belong to NAXJA.org and am looking forward to getting to know some of you. MYJEEPROCKS.com seems to be just what I'm looking for.

    Thanks Gregg

      Gregg,
Nice jeeps!. Welcome aboard. Maybe you could make it this weekend for the Meet & geet in Apple Valley, and meet some of the good ol' folks from MJR!

Thanks Sarah, I'm thinking I'll try to get up for the M & G but won't be able to stay for lunch. How else might I connect? I led the EASY run at the Save JV meeting and asked about MYJEEPROCKS but apparently all you went on the Bullfrog run led by Richie.

I need to be at work by 1PM in Oak Hills so I should only be able to stay till noon or so. But that will give me an hour and I'll plan on getting there a little before the scheduled 11AM start time. Will that work?

                      Gregg,

Welcome to MJR! Hope to meet you at the meet and greet Saturday. There are a bunch of High Desert jeepers on MJR that go out wheeling every weekend.

Oh Man that is one sa-weeet CJ5!! Welcome to MJR. You've found the best Jeep site on the planet. There are lots of members in the greater Victor Valley area. Keep checking the trail rides & events section and when you find a run that you are interested in, just post up and let the person know who is organizing it.

                        Hope to meet you Saturday.

Thanks for the compliment on the CJ5. I was up in Utah and saw it rotting out in a field. Knocked on the guys door and towed it home. It has been a wonderful project that is fun to drive. Not very practical and the XJ will be my serious trail Jeep but I really enjoy just puttering on it! See you Saturday. My favorite place to go for a close get-away is by you at Cougar Buttes (and a DEPOT BURGER". It is only an hour from home but I feel like I'm really "away" for a few days.

                              Gregg,

Look me up at the meet and greet. There are a dozen cool spots between you and the "Buttes". Good to have you here.
