  • New Jeep in the Family

I fell in love with this truck when I first saw it, and when it went for sale, I dove in. Got an awesome deal from a friend of mine:

    1954 Willys Wagon

The body is VERY straight, hardly a door ding. The roof at one time had a light that passed through it, and it was bondo's. I'll have to repair that again. The ONLY other dent I can see is one on the tailgate, and one where the bumper came in contact with rear quarter panel. Needs some sanding and paint though...hardly any rust, only some surface stuff.

Dash is unmolested and completely stock. I'm gonna leave it that way. Drivers windshield is broken. Interior is clean. It has carpet in the back, which has the wood slats underneath it. I'll probably pull the carpet from cargo area and redo the wood slates.

It has the stock Willys Super Hurricane 6 226 motor. It has been converted to 12 volt. We started it up, and she idles smooth. I didn't driver her yet. I love the flat head! New radiator and water pump.

The tranny is a T90 mated to a Model 18 transfer case. Twin stick from the factory. Axles are a 44 in the rear, and I believe a 25 (weak) in the front. Most common gears are apparently 4.88's. So, a 1:1 3rd gear, 4.88's in the axles, and small tires (700's on there now (whats that equal to?)), I'd say it'll top out at maybe 50 mph!? He has a overdrive which he'll sell to me, but I'm not looking right now.

How cool is this! What's your plans for it? Restore it to stock or trick it out?

That is so cool, would love to get my hands on one to restore. Cherish it, Kevin.

My current plans are a moderate restore with modern all terrain tires, and some light off-roading. I honestly don't know if I have the patients for a frame off restoration.

It looks great Steve. It also appears to be mostly complete and original and should increase in value every year you own it. Of course if it were mine it would probably get a big block Chevy, 14 bolt front and rear, 40” MTR’s…

          Good luck
