We bought a '95 YJ in October '07, took a basic how to use it course, and we'd quit our jobs in a second and live outta the thing if we could do it. Thanks to SAR Jeeper for pointing us in this direction!

Now, someone tell us how in the heck to resize one of our photo's to comply with the profile requirements! DOH!

The absolute easiest, quickest and foolproof way I can think of is to open the pic in MS Paint, click IMAGE on the toolbar, click STRETCH/SKEW, and change the vertical and horizontal settings lower. Then click SAVE AS and pick a name. Check the properties of the pic to make sure you are in spec. If not, redo the above steps and set your STRETCH/SKEW settings appropriately.

Before the flames for MS Paint start, this is the non-photoshop edition of "photo resizing 101".

Oh and welcome! Where did you take a Jeep course? Sounds like fun!

Thanks, everyone, for the welcomes and pic resizing tips. Gonna try that out soon.

I don't want to break the advertising rules so...we took the class at Gorman. Four hours classroom and four hours practical experience. It was kinda expensive, $200 per rig + $60 per second driver. They also give a full day basic training which is a follow on to the first class where they teach recovery techniques, rocks and other higher level techniques.

Check out http://www.4x4training.com/ to see what other courses are offered, etc. It was well worth the cost because we learned a lot!

Eh, it's informational. I didn't make the rules, but I think it's in place to keep vendors from blitzing the forums and bailing. My girlfriend can't drive a stick. Do you think this class would be a good course for her or should she learn that first on her own?

You should probably teach her aside from taking the course because it's more about safety, common sense on the trail, treading lightly then they take you to the practice course at Gorman and check out the rigs articulation, negotiating ditches and how to get through them when you don't have lockers and a wheel gets off the ground (left foot braking/bumping through), hill climbs and decents (using the right gears/breaking/lines), ruts, water crossings, small rocks and off camber situations. Then they take you out on an easy run that incorporates most of what you learned. BUT after she learns the stick she should definately take the class because it'll take the pressure off of you teaching her and she'll feel much more confident about what she can and shouldn't do and what the rig is capable of.

                  Did I ramble? :-)

Welcome!!! I got to wheel with Dawn and Nick last weekend, and they are a great couple that have recently been bitten by the Jeep bug.

Now read-up on some upcoming runs and get that Jeep even dirtier!!!
