Wow Great Trail. I Just Got Home From Doing The Rattlesnake Trail. My First Time, Just Went To Check It Out And Really Enjoyed It. Just Hard Enough To Make You Pay Attention. Loved It. I Drive A Stock 'o7 Jk . Took 3no3 To 18. No Smoke Until I Reached The Valley. 65 Miles From 247/247 Loop. You Guys With Stock Rubi's Can Do It, Just Pay Attention.

I dont know for sure but you guys might want to check it out first, theres a BIG fire up here right now and its spredaing really fast so i dont know if the trails are closed or not, should probably just double check so you all dont come up here then have to turn right back around... just FYI

This should be a fun run. Looking forward to meeting new faces. The fire is 20 miles to the east of Rattlesnake, not to underscore the concern of mountain fires.

I'm sitting here tonight watching the fires from the Village. It's obviously burning a pretty massive area.

This shouldn't affect any of you guys running Rattlesnake canyon, though. Even the smoke, which is flowing pretty thickly into Holcomb valley, looks to be thinning out quite a bit by the time it gets out that far.

All the highways are open, including the 18 west of the dam, so it looks like all the major routes in and out of BB are good. They just have all of Holcomb valley closed down right now as a precaution.

Unfortunately it looks like Holcomb Creek Trail is sitting right in the middle of the burn area. If so, it'll probably mean closure for the rest of the season, and who knows what else.

We should not have much effect from the fire. Butler Fire #2 is a long way away from the trails that we are looking to do.

There is a good site for getting updates on the fire from the State of CA:
                      http://cdfdata.fire.ca.gov/incidents/incidents_current

The closures and effects so far are:
Evacuations--Camp Whittle, Big Pine Flat, Ironwood, Hanna Flat Campgrounds, Yellow Post campsites in the area, and Butler Peak Lookout.

Forest Road Closures--2N13, both ends of 3N14, 4N16, 3N16 at Crab Flats, Grays Peak Trailhead.

Resources on Scene--11 hand crews, 11 engines, 2 helicopters, 8 airtankers 4 watertenders.

No communities are currently threatened or evacuated.

Thanks for the updates . . . glad to hear that we're still on for tomorrow, but bummed to hear about Holcomb. I was really hoping to run thru Dishpan and Holcomb again soon.

I figured I'd throw the roster link back up so you don't have to search.

Pic from this morning from the East end of Big Bear Lake.

I hope everyone up the hill is safe and that the firefighters get a handle on the fire.
