It was open three weeks ago. If there is a sign that designates the trail, it can be driven. If there is not an official USFS designation, you should find another trail.

A designation sign looks like this:

I heard the same thing. If it is we will need to go up 2n02 instead.

Heartbreak is slated for closure but it hasn't happened yet. My guess is it's going to be closed for winter and never opened again. Run it now, since it may be your last chance to do so.

This will be the second week in a row that I'll miss a heartbreak run because my new boulder bars aren't in yet.

You don't need boulder bars to do any of these trails.....if thats the ONLY reason your not going you should come!

If any one wants to meet in Hesperia/Victorville and travel to Lucerne let me know. With the later start maybe a Jack-n-Box or something? Hey Kaneto, what's burning up there today? Looks like the front of the mountain from here.

Would I be able to go with a stock Rubi Unlim.???

I am always scraping the belly anyway:hide:
But would I be able to tag along with you guys and not get damaged?
Never done any Big Bear trails, so don't know if I can make it all right. If any compares to Miller, then I should be fine.

I think it's my turn for a bailout....what do you think?

They are calling the fire Butler Peak II. It is in the same general area as the Butler Peak fire Labor Day weekend. This one has burned over 200 acres in a short time. They have evacuated all campgrounds and yellow post sites on the North side of Big Bear...this includes Big Pine Flats, Hanna Flat, and I can't remember what else. She said it started around 3n14 & 2n13. They suggested to not plan to do any wheeling on the North side of Big Bear this weekend.

Thanks for the update Julie. At least the fire is a long way away from Rattlesnake Canyon, but the smoke could make wheeling nasty. I will take Hwy 18 home instead of 3N14.
