  • Rubicon trail

Just got back from our annual Rubicon trip. Had a blast as usual. We had a small group of 5 this year which allowed us to move quick and break free (most of the time). We came in through wentworth springs all the way to Buck Lake for our first night.

we all made short work of a tough begining of the trail.

this is a shot just getting off the slabs where the trail meets from Loon Lake

Paul took his chances at the lil' sluice, but the sluice box claimed victory over a "small" jeep. Paul has close to an 8 inch lift on 37s. Along with tons of weight in the back, he didnt make it too far. (next year paul!)

coming down Old sluice. Our camp for the next two days down below (Buck Lake)

then the fun spot near the end of old sluice. The infamouse "large boulder in the middle of the trail"
this part claims my pass side fender each year. I think we all left some paint on those rocks this year.

who needs limit straps when you have brake lines right?

a little extra weight never hurts

      oops: maybe not

so many pics I dont want to bore you.

            and "Beckys hole":

next time your in Rubicon Springs go talk to kevin and ask where this is. Kinda a weird hole that is about 7-8ft deep. A perfect round hole

this year we ran into a lot of traffic, but nothing too bad.

the drive back to our hotel is always nice:

ok what do you get when you put a 2 inch spacer on a ford 9inch, then slap some 37 inch red label crawlers and detroit locker on it, and then add twisty turns and loose lug nuts?

            give up?

            answer: no tire

all the bolts holding the spacer to the shaft sheered off. luckily a 10 minute drive to Napa were able to pound out the studs and get the Bronco back on the road in 1.5 hours

more pics to come as they are getting uploaded
