Any chance you guys would be willing to run it Saturday at the same time instead of Sunday?

Will a stock Rubicon Unlim. make it ok?
How much possible damage can happen to a stock Rubi Unlimited through that trail?
I've wanted to run Miller for a long time...but I can wait if I need a lift.

I think it's my turn for a bailout....what do you think?

Um, I would not rate Miller as "easy". Moderate leaning toward difficult is more accurate I believe. A stock Rubi Unlimited can certainly make it- you will scrape a bit on the rocks on the last climb but should not experience any damage. It's also really, really dusty up there right now.

          David,
I ran it a year ago and there was a bone stock TJ with us. Somewhere on this site or Jeep Forum there's probably pics taken by Russ. He needed a minor strap in one area but that was traction and tire size related as opposed to lift. I'm not bringing my stock Rubicon for this weekend but I have no doubt that it would make it with few if any issues.

Great...I'd love to go...Just gotta check with the wife to see if she wants to go...

Are you guys going through Gormin OHV area?

And where's the Flying J's...is that off the 5?
I usually take the Smokey Bear entrance when I go to Gormin, and I don't remember seeing the J. :dunno:

Actually, the run that Sandy referred to was two years ago (Sep 2005); it was a bone-stock TJ with 28s and open diffs. That particular spot on the trail was badly eroded; the last few times I went through, it was not as bad. YMMV. Dave, nothing on the Lockwood trail is any worse that what we ran through on Rowher last weekend.

The Miller Jeep trail has lots of rocks, but even a stock Jeep has enough clearance to make it through:

Because of last year's fire, the trail is extremely dusty. The lack of vegetation makes it easy to wander off the trail. Remember to Tread Lightly and stay on the trail.
If you don't like the way I drive, stay out of the bushes!

Thanks, Russ....I was actually looking for the pics....
Ok...if Rowher 'is no worse', then everything should be fine..just a few rocks to float over ......or..... roll over...ok..no biggy :hide::marge:
Better bring the :tp: if the wife comes along. :omg:

I can't believe I'm going to miss this one . . . I've been wanting to run Miller for a while and had to bail on the trip planned a few weeks back. I'll be up in Big Bear so I can't make it this weekend, so warm up the trails for me and be sure to post up a trail report and some pics! Hopefully I can get up there within the next few weeks.
That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.

I guess that depends on the driver and the rig.

I did Miller a few weeks ago...I did 85% of the trail in 2WD rear locked.

Kingsize, it sounds like you are a good driver with a good rig, but describing the trail as "easy" could invite some rigs and drivers that are less capable than you and yours, and cuase some problems. I believe the Wells book does rate the trail as a black diamond, so it could certainly be a challenge for less experienced drivers (like me) with closer to stock rigs.

Anyway, I hope you have a great time on your run and maybe we can meet up on a run up there at some point.

You must work at JC's -- I think that's the only place I've had any work done that I didn't do myself. Too bad I couldn't make your run Sunday. Next time.

                            Yep I agree.....

...with Bruce, we ran it backwards (from Alamo Mtn) right after the area reopened after the fire. We pasted two or three stockers going the other way with groups of wheelers. It's a doable trail but it has it's tough spots which I think warrant a 3or4 rating, black diamond for sure.......my two cents worth, have fun everyone....its a very cool trail and a blast of a day.......yep, dusty too.....

Ok, as of now, the wife and I are planning to go...
I am a good hour away, so if you guys can, just wait for ten minutes or so if I don't make it @ 8....
thanks...But as is stands right now, we will be there...
Will post later if that changes.
