I used to say the same thing.

Now I am slowly realizing what I really want my jeep to do.
I think I learned on this trip, that bouldering is perfect for the built buggies with 44's. They weigh almost nothing and are all wheels and engine. "The Hammers" are appropriately named, for thats what they will do to anything other than a buggy built for it.
Yes, it was fun, but a heavier vehicle with armor is going to take a beating. Challenging, eventful, suspenseful, fun...yup.
I learned what a 4'' lift with 36.5' tires will do. What 35's will struggle with. What a skilled driver can do with 35's......
      Like this one here.

      or this one

I learned how to winch and strap.

I forget who said it....here on MJR. "most have gone on to 44's, 35's just takes more skill", that would be the best describtion of what I learned this weekend.

Friday, actually was not bad at all.... about 85 maybe.
            Damage report:
Oh, no damage that put any jeep out of commision. One locker fuse, some bend parts that, I am sure the guys will report on.
A great day to be wheeln, some great folks we met out there from....was it Tin Benders.org?

LOL so trying Clawhammer with stock 3.73s, 5spd and 33s would be a bad idea huh?

maybe I missed it but what trails did you guys run?

With lockers, you could do it, Just expect lots of rough n tumble down low. Bring tow rope and a jeep with a winch.

We ran Claw, Sledge and Big Johnson.

Well, I learned something suprising on Friday night. When I went to put my spare back on (brand new, never touched the ground) I leaned it up against the rear wheel and, DAMN! The tires on the ground are almost two inches shorter than the new. I've worn that much rubber off these tires. So I was really doing JV on 33.5's, probably less that that because I was aired down to 8 lbs.. No freaking wonder my Jeep looks like it does.
Had a great time, Joy, you're welcome to ride with me anytime. You are great company. Bob, thanks for the great pics, and letting your beautiful wife spend the day with me. Stuart, let me know when those 36's go up for sale

                      I took exactly 0 pictures. I SUCK!

                              Dead at JV !!

I was at 4Xsanta's campsite and was told someone driving around the lakebed with only a lapbelt, was thrown out and slammed his noggin on your rollbar = death. There is some post on Pirate about it. I think a quad rider died also over the weekend. Maybe helmets are the hot ticket !!!
