Nightmare Gulch

The rain was a factor for sure. We had a good spotter, for sure. The axle was old, and the mirror was cheap. The back window, well, maybe not cheap, but he didn't seem to mind. We cleaned up the glass and some other junk on the trail. My dingers were tiny, nothing broken, and I tested my tube fenders HARD. Vern, no problems there! Like they say, "you can follow me, but it's gonna hurt... Did anyone there not have fun?

good times for sure. we tried to find the cabins, for a couple hours in the dark and rain with a lame map we had no luck. oh well, next time. i made it home with no damage, just killer pics & stories. your v-notch spotter is my buddy Ted. hey did anyone find pics of my yellow jeep yet?? i have no pics of my new long arm kit and have no idea what it's really doing and how well it's working. (i'm sure it's kickin ass just fine!) that's my new favorite trail area, i can't wait till it re-opens in summer!! hope everyone found pics of their rig to pass along. take it ez. peace.

I wish I would have been able to come along. It looks like it was a great trip. It was good meeting everyone at Mojave and the trailhead. At least I got to throw it in 4 wheel drive on the way back out going up the little hill with the rock on one side. When i got to work all I could think about was the fun you guys were having on the trail. Only four more months until all of our inspections and excercises should be over for a while.

Wow. I guess we were lucky last weekend. I scratched a fender flair (again) on a line that I knew was chancey and a couple of others had minor damage in the V-Notch. Did the folks that tried the V-Notch try it without spotters? That's a tough line without outside guidance.

Regardless, it looks like everyone had a great time. I'm still amazed at the Hummers in Nightmare Gulch. There are some REALLY tight lines in there.

I don't think the Hummers went in all they way to the narrower parts of Nighmare. We ran into them coming the opposiye direction and I think they turned around before it got too tough for them. I ended up following them out of Last Chance- that was a SLOWWWWWW ride.

Mellow Yellow I have one of you I think. I really like that long arm kit you have on there. From what I saw it was working just fine.

Those are by far all the most amazing pics i've seen from a trip i've been on yet!! Mine were taken from my Razr phone, not bad. I had a blast rockcrawling and much thanks to everyone who helps keep the trail OPEN! We all appreciate it, as there's not a whole lot left other than just flat dirt roads here in SoCal. Rock on!

Spotting

I cannot believe that everyone thought that the fellow spotting was doing a good job! Doesn't anybody find it amazing that everyone that went through whilst listening to the spotter (I believe his name was Ted) obtained some sort of damage? I personally did not go through the V-notch, but was observing from the side-lines. The spotter was instructing the drivers to go through all
a$$ backwards! I hope that he is dyslexic, that is the only excuse. The drivers
listened to him and ended up in the slope situation. One person that did not
listen was the one in the Green (muddy) XJ, he did not listen and made it completely through without body damage. Yes, he did snap an axle but it was a stock dana 35c with a detroit in the rear.
