I got some info in the mail yesterday and it says there will be food booths again this year. I don't plan on bringing a lot of food. Just lunch and snacks.

So is who is still planning on going? I'll be there with the new 4 door lifted on 35's and the teardrop. Talked to bachman yesterday, he is still going with a couple friends. We are both heading out on thursday, plan on wheeling friday and saturday, then going home sunday.

As I sit here at work wishing I was out at Calico helping at the clean up, 2 weeks from now for TDS looks doable. The repairs are almost done to the Jeep so I'm am itching to get out.

            Safari

Don't forget to Register. We need all the financial support we can get. The off road community will have to hire a professional to study the big horn sheep habitat to prove it doesn't roam in the Truckhaven area.

Desert Safari On March 2-4 at Ocotillo Wells SVRA. The new Safari Registration Packet is on the web site at:
            http://tds4x4.com/iframes/safaripacket.htm
CAMPSITE: NOTE: New Location!! Located on Main Street and Hwy 78 in Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area.
There’s lots of room and easy access for campers, motorhomes, and trailers. Please observe the signs. Bring your own firewood and
drinking water. Additional supplies are available nearby in Ocotillo Wells. Coin-operated showers are available near the SVRA Ranger
            Station.
FRIDAY: Registration STARTS at 12:00 pm, Closes at 10 pm. Safety Check and Registration location is at TDS Safari Site.
SATURDAY: Registration reopens at 6:30 am. Run will leave from campsite, promptly at 8 am for a trip in Sandy Washes,
Rocky Canyons and Scenic Ridges of the best 4-Wheelin’ in Ocotillo Wells. Easier routes are marked “Green” to by-pass some of the
harder/steeper trails. Radio Check Points throughout the run are on Official Use Only CB Channel 14 (Please!).
SUNDAY: Trips start at 9 am. The Sunday Rough Run will provide some of the best 4-wheelin’ of the weekend. The trail will
not be marked. It will be a follow the leader run, so be sure to watch out for the vehicle behind you.
            NOTE:
Due to construction, Hwy 78 east of S2 will be limited to one-way traffic until 4 p.m. Both lanes will be open on the weekend.
Please use the other thread for comments as we need this to stay at the top.

              Big Horn Sheeple

Man that is the rub, We have a wheeling area that is freakin' awesome, wheel it for 60 years and they are just now doing a study on the environmental impact... nice. they really care. I want to see them organize a cleanup event like WE do and do something more for the enviornment than just fencing it off. I mean yeah, there is damage... and the pumpkin patch is trashed, but the people that trash that stuff are the ones that hop fences and bust open the gates anyways. We can't even organize a cleanup at Truckhaven now can we? Anyways, my registration is allready in the mail, and we are gonna seriously generate some revenue to re-open the area. I guess it's been time to get political for a while now huh?

i'm planning on going to TDS for the event, but didn't know i had to pay $45-60!!! i never got my money back from the last corva trip there. i was willing to donate it, but another $45-$60 is a bit extreme of a price, i don't think i can afford that, plus gas and food and beer. that's wayyyy too much!!! do i have to pay to roll? is this a corva event? if so can they roll my money over?

                  Safari

Chris. The annual TDS Safari has always been a Paid event. We are associated with CORVA but have nothing to do with their event. It cost money to put on these events. The Park gets 10% of the gross and atleast $25,000 if not more of the proceeds go towards fighting to keep riding areas open. There will be food venders there but we get nothing from them as they are there for participants convenience. Not only does your registration fee go towards the above it gets you a ticket for the drawing on Sat. night. One registration one ticket. Total prizes generally add up to $60,000 plus.

We will be heading out Thursday Morning and staying until Tuesday afternoon. TDS is our annual vacation every year. We will be bringing along the kegerator and we are hosting the Jeepaholics Adult camp this year. If anyone would like to pull in and set up camp with us, shoot me a PM and let me know and I will post our intended camp location.

                      Chris

If I had gone to the CORVA event, I would feel your pain.
We went to the Molina event last year here that got rained out. We donated our registration fee to raffle tickets. And then we won nothing in the raffle. Go figure.

I would hope that you are a member of Cal4Wheel or Blue Ribbon or United 4 Wheel Drive Association. These primary groups are fighting to keep your wheeling areas open. Like TDS mentioned all ready, a lot of what they take in is donated to keep lands open for wheeling.
We do win some of these fights.
An example is Clear Creek up here where CBD sued BLM, and they lost. Clear Creek is still open for wheeling. The bike and quad guys lost some of their trails, but the jeep trails all remained open.
If you want more specifics of other wins, PM me here, and I can get you some of the other wins. These cost money with the lawyers though and specialists for our side to testify in court.
I am a member of Cal4Wheel, and Blue Ribbon.
I also donate $10.00 a month to Blue Ribbon for legal fees in the upcoming fights.
If you like to play in the desert (JV), there are some groups that have sued to close the Mojave to protect the desert tortoise. The area in this lawsuit included Johnson Valley.

So, I feel your pain about having to pay for a event that got cancelled, and then having to pay to attend another event in the same area, but please consider the first one a donation to keep the area open. I am sure if you asked CORVA, they would refund your money though.
If you really want your money back from CORVA, and get no response from them, let me know, and I can contact Bob Reed, who is the president of CORVA, and I will have him look into it for you.

this is not a corva event.
cut back on the beer, and the 50 bucks will seem like nothing.
                        it is worth the trip.
